Our People

Mark Smith
Principal

Mark founded the firm in 2006 and is the Principal.

Mark holds a Bachelor of Laws Degree and Bachelor of Science Degree.  Mark has also undertaken postgraduate studies and has obtained a Master of Business Administration Degree from the University of Sydney.
During Mark’s legal studies, he received two academic awards from The Sydney University Law Extension Committee for achieving first place in two subjects.

Mark is admitted as a legal practitioner in The Supreme Court of NSW and The High Court of Australia.

Mark is a highly experienced lawyer and has worked on a wide range of legal matters from international construction and infrastructure projects to small business and individual matters.

Mark practices in Commercial and Business Law, providing advice on complex business transactions, business sales and purchases, criminal matters and civil litigation.  He has extensive court experience and regularly appears in the local, district and supreme courts.

Mark has been nominated by the President of The Law Society for an Access to Justice Award.

 

 

William Onishi
Senior Associate

William holds a Masters of Laws Degree & Legal Practice from the University of Technology and a Bachelor of Commerce Degree (major in Accountancy) from the University of Wollongong and is admitted as a legal practitioner in The Supreme Court of NSW and The High Court of Australia.  While William was a member of The NSW Young Lawyers Association he was awarded the NSW Young Lawyer of the Year Award by Justice Harrison.

Since 2003 William has extensive experience working in the areas of Commercial and Corporate Law, Taxation Law, Insolvency Law, Family Law, Commercial Litigation, Employment Law, Property Law and Wills and Estates.

William also holds an Accounting degree and has previously practiced as an accountant in both small and large international chartered accounting firms.

William approaches each client’s matter in a considered and professional manner.

William was born and educated in Australia and is fluent in Japanese.

 

 

Maureen Lim
Lawyer

Maureen holds a Bachelor of Laws Degree and a Bachelor of Arts Degree and is admitted as a legal practitioner in The Supreme Court of NSW and The High Court of Australia.

Maureen is also a registered Migration Agent and advises on all aspects of Migration Law including applications and court appearances.

Maureen specialises in Family Law, Migration Law, Administrative Appeals Tribunal matters, Property Law and Civil Litigation.

Maureen is very regarded by her clients for her caring, meticulous, professional approach and the results she achieves.

Maureen is fluent in Mandarin.

 

 

 

Tim Scott
Lawyer

Tim holds a Bachelor of Laws and a Bachelor of Communications and Media Studies from The University of Wollongong and is admitted as a legal practitioner in The Supreme Court of NSW.

Tim appears regularly in local, district and supreme court matters.

Tim specialises in Criminal Law, Civil Litigation and Intellectual Property Law.  Tim has a reputation for achieving outstanding results and for his excellent courtroom advocacy.

Tim has a wealth of experience in criminal matters and has appeared in cases including murder, sexual offences, drug trafficking, importation and possession, assault and traffic offences.

Tim takes a practical and strategic approach to his matters and establishes rapport with his clients and assists them through what can be a stressful process.

 

 

Eunice Adetifa
Lawyer

Eunice is an admitted Solicitor of the Supreme Court of New South Wales and the High Court of Australia.

Eunice specialises in Family Law, Children’s Care and Protection, Wills, Family Provision claims and Contested Probate.

Eunice practices across a broad range of Family Law matters, including complex property matters, parenting disputes, spouse maintenance, and Binding Financial Agreements.

Eunice is dedicated to reaching positive outcomes that mitigate the impact of the relationship breakdowns on her clients and their children.

Eunice’s practical approach to Family Law enables her to assist her clients to achieve positive resolution without being involved in expensive proceedings through the court.

However, if it is necessary to use the court proceedings to achieve a just result, Eunice has experience conducting family law matters before the Federal Circuit Court and Family Court of Australia.

 

 

Sam Bailey
Lawyer

Sam holds a Bachelor of Laws Degree and a Bachelor of Psychology Degree from The University of Wollongong.

Sam has worked with Brander Smith McKnight since 2014, initially as a paralegal.  In this time he has developed a broad range of experience.
He is professional, results oriented and client focused.

While at university, he participated in a number of programs including volunteer legal work at the Shoalcoast Community Legal Centre.  He was also extensively involved in The Law Society as a student representative and student mentor.

Sam specialises in Civil Litigation, Employment and Criminal Law.

 

 

 

 

Hayley Carter
Lawyer

Hayley holds a Bachelor of Laws Degree from Sydney University and is admitted as a legal practitioner in the Supreme Court of New South Wales.

Hayley has extensive experience working in large international legal firms and has practised in the areas of Competition and Consumer Law.

Hayley prides herself in having an open line of communication with her clients and keeping them informed and up to date with their matters.

Hayley specialises in Criminal Law.

 

 

 

Hannah Woods
Law Graduate

Hannah was a student at Wollongong University and began her career with our firm as our Intern and continues brings significant support to our team.

Hannah is currently gaining experience in Family Law and Estates.

 

 

 

Hayley Freckelton
Practice Manager

Hayley has many years experience in the legal profession, working for both boutique and large international legal firms.

Hayley has a pleasant and efficient approach and treats all clients in a confidential and caring manner.

Hayley makes herself available to ensure that all clients are well informed and satisfied with our service.

 

 

Lauren Murray
Legal Secretary

Lauren Murray is our legal secretary who supports our team on all aspects of their client matters.
